Xiaolu Pavilion

Confucius' Xiaolu Lookout is located on the summit of Guimeng, the main peak of Mengshan Mountain. According to research, Confucius once climbed to the summit of Guimeng along treacherous hill paths of Sishui, Bianqiao and Zhongcun. With the Qi and Lu kingdoms spread under his feet, he looked up to the sky and exclaimed: "Lu is so small when viewed from Dongshan. The world is small when viewed from Taishan." Dongshan is today's Mengshan Mountain. At Xiaolu Pavilion, visitors can discover cultural heritage through stories of five Confucius disciples engraved on the four pavilion columns. They were all wise hermits of Mengshan Mountain.

Jinquan Buddhist Temple

Jinquan Buddhist Temple in mid-south Mengshan Mountain backs onto rolling hills and overlooks a deep ravine with plunging waterways. It is a celestial site set high in the clouds with pine terraces. Formerly called Baiyun Temple, it was once a Taoist monastery belonging to Huashan Sect of the Quanzhen School. In the Ming dynasty, eighth generation Taoist successor Zhang Yanhao of the Quanzhen School founded Qingxu Monastery here. This hillside monastery sits north to south and comprises a mountain gate, bell tower, Yuhuang Grand Hall, Three Primes Court, Beidou Palace, Buddha Hall, Three Saints Hall and a tea lounge. It was renovated a few times during the Qing dynasty and renamed Jinquan Buddhist Temple.

Wanshou Palace

Originally called Gumeng Hall, the Wanshou Palace is located in the south foot of Mount Mengshan. It's used to be a palace for worship in the Zhou Dynasty about 2500 years ago, composed by three courts in a terraced layout.

Yuhuang Palace

It sits loftily at the rugged Guimengding summit. It is a shrine of the supreme deity Haotianjinque Jade Emperor who is one of the Four Supremes in Taoism. The temple was built in the Tianbao period of the tang dynasty and renovated in the Qing Yongzheng period. The pavilion is laid out in two levels. It is a mock Han style brick and timber architecture measuring 19m high, 29m wide and 20m deep. Gross area is 1,000m2. The inscription on the gateway reads: Numerous rays of light shine at the purple palace; Countless celestial phenomena fill the emperor's courts". Visitors can follow the steps uphill and feel Confucius' lofty sentiment when he exclaimed, "Lu is so small when viewed from Dongshan".

Memorial Hall and Monument of Menglianggu Battle

Memorial Hall and Monument of Menglianggu Battle in Menglianggu Geo-region is a monument for the Menglianggu Battle of the Liberation War. At this battle, the East China Field Force annihilated Division 74 of the Kuomintang Army. It was an important victory that tilted the scales. Not only did Kuomintang lose one of its five major forces, it also boosted our morale. More importantly, it vividly exemplified the Yimeng spirit ― love the party and the army and serve selflessly. This complex includes a memorial hall with five exhibition galleries and a towering monument. It is now a base of patriotic education.
