This year's Spring Festival holiday saw a continued surge in cultural and museum tourism. According to statistics released by Yimengshan UNESCO Global Geopark on February 4, the geopark’s geological museums received a total of 46,000 visitors from January 28 to February 4，with a year-on-year growth of 20.45%. Celebrating theChineseNew Year in museums has become a new tradition.
Marking the first "Intangible Cultural Heritage Year" after the successful inclusion of the Spring Festival in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List, Yimengshan UNESCO Global Geopark Museums launched the themed event "Celebrating the New Year in Museums—Geology Carnival." Each exhibition hall was adorned with festive decorations, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Activities such as "Auspicious Serpent Blessings, Good Fortune in Mengshan," "Exploring Yimengshan’s Billion-Year Geological Culture," "Hunting for the Source of Diamonds," "Lantern Riddles and Displays," and "Celebrating the New Year in the Land of Gucheng" were organized to blend traditional culture with the marvels of geological history. These events attracted numerous visitors to experience the unique charm of Yimeng culture and celebrate the inaugural "Intangible Cultural Heritage Year".
The Yimengshan UNESCO Global Geopark Museum Cluster includes the main museum, Daigu Landform Museum, Diamond Museum, Menglianggu Exhibition Hall, Yunmeng Scenic Area Exhibition Hall, and Yunmeng Pearl Exhibition Hall, covering a total area of 11,790 square meters. These venues showcase geological landforms, heritage sites, paleontological fossils, natural ecological resources, and local cultural characteristics. In recent years, the geopark administration has leveraged the distinctive advantages of its museum cluster to actively integrate into the broader strategy of "Revitalizing Mengshan Tourism," enhancing the region’s appeal as a cultural and geological destination.
