First China Nature Conservation International Forum, jointly organized by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, the Global Conservation Union and the People's Government of Guangdong Province, kicked off in Shenzhen on November 30, 2019. Yimengshan UNESCO Global Geopark was invited to participate in the four-day forum.
The forum aims to promote the exchange of conservation management policies, concepts, scientific knowledge and technology in the field of nature conservation, and fully learn from advanced conservation experiences at home and abroad. More than 500 people attended the forum, including experts and scholars in the field of nature conservation at home and abroad, conservation organizations and representatives of domestic nature reserves authorities and related institutions.
National Forestry and Grassland Administration issued plaques to the newly selected Yimeng Mountain and Jiuhua Mountain UNESCO Global Geoparks.
Yimengshan, or Yimeng Mountain in East China's Shandong province, became a part of the Global Geoparks Network established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), becoming the 38th global geopark in China and second one after Taishan Mountain in Shandong Province.
