For the mid-term assessment of Yimengshan Global Geopark, a five-person investigation team headed by Professor Wu Fadong from China University of Geosciences visited Administration of Linyi Yimengshan Global Geopark from July 13 to July 18.
During the investigation, experts of Professor Wu's team had comprehensive and in-depth discussions with leaders and relevant departments of Administration of Yimengshan Global Geopark, conducted in-depth exploration and further clarification of the tasks of the mid-term assessment of the Yimengshan Global Geopark.
The team explained guidance on specific matters such as filling out evaluation forms like Form A & B of Self-Assessment on Yimengshan Global Geopark, Experts' Rectification Opinions on UNESCO Global Geopark. They proposed two mandatory items and three recommended items, and completed the preparation of the first draft of the intention letter for the mid-term assessment of Yimengshan Global Geopark. Besides, Professor Wu and his team visited the Yimengshan Global Geopark Museum for a site visit and made specific recommendations for renovation and enhancement of the museum exhibits and facilities in accordance with the mid-term evaluation requirements.
Zhu Yu, General Director of Administration of Yimengshan UNESCO Global Geopark, attached great importance to the arrival of the research group. After having several meetings with the experts, Zhu made careful arrangements for them.
Wang Jian, Deputy Director of Administration of Yimengshan UNESCO Global Geopark, communicated with the experts’ team throughout the process, and organized the expert team twice to hold discussions with relevant departments and units of the Administration Bureau and relevant units of Mengyin County. She conducted in-depth discussions on the specific work of the mid-term evaluation and put forward specific work requirements.
By organizing and participating in the whole process of the investigation, Administration of Yimengshan UNESCO Global Geopark further refined the nodes and tasks of the mid-term assessment work, changed thinking and build up consensus, and took a solid step towards completing the mid-term assessment work.
