Yimengshan Geopark Carried out Popularization Activity of UNESCO Global Geopark

On April 20, 2018, Yimengshan National Geopark and Yanqing UNESCO Global Geopark (hereinafter referred to as Yanqing Global Geopark) held a sister park signing ceremony in the conference room of Yanqing Geopark Museum.

Song Jian, deputy sectary of the party working committee of Mengshan Tourist Resort Administrative Committee, representative of Yimengshan Geoaprk， and Yu Baojun, director of Yanqing Global Geopark Management Office, signed the agreement on behalf of the two Geoparks. Afterwards, the two sides conducted discussions and exchanges on the application of the Global Geopark and Geopark scientific research, and then visited and inspected the Yanqing Geopark Museum.

Previously, the Yimengshan National Geopark had already had two "Sisters" of Geoparks which are Arxan UNESCO global Geopark, Inner Mongolia, and Guanzhaishan National Geopark in Fujian. Yanqing Global Geopark is the third. After the signing of the cooperation agreement, the two sides will carry out more in-depth cooperation and exchanges in the field of Geopark management, Geoheritage protection, science popularization, local economy promotion and other aspects .

Sister Park Introduction: Yanqing Global Geopark of China is located at a transitional zone between North China plain and Inner Mongolian plateau. It is one of the famous naming places of Yanshanian movement, liking a shining pearl embedded on the south slope of magnificent Yanshan Mountains. Covering an area of 620.38 km2, this geopark comprises four connecting scenic areas, the western two ones are called Longyingxia Scenic Area and Guyaju Scenic Area, the easten Qianjiadian Scenic Area, the southen Badaling Scenic Area. Yanqing Global Geopark, taking the Precambrian marine carbonates as its material basis, dominated by the Mesozoic Yanshanian movement-related geoheritage, is a comprehensive geopark by integrating the tectonic, sedimentary, paleontologic, magmatic geoheritage and North-China-type karst landforms into a whole.
